Shri N.K. Nanda, CMD(Additional Charge), NMDC Limited has received the Indian Mining and Engineering Journal Golden Jubilee Award recently in a function at Bhubaneswar during MINETECH 2012 National Seminar for his outstanding contribution to iron ore mining. This prestigious award was presented by Shri C.S. Gundewar, Controller General of Indian Bureau of Mines.

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between NMDC Limited and Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India on the commitments of NMDC concerning its performance in the year 2012-13. Shri N.K.Nanda, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (Addl. Charge), NMDC and Shri P. K. Misra, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India signed the MOU.

It has been long cherished dream of NMDC to have a foot-hold in International markets; this has been fulfilled by the acquisition of Legacy Iron Ore, Australia during December 2011. NMDC has recently completed the acquisition of 50% equity in Legacy Iron Ore Limited and also inducted three Directors in Legacy board with Shri N.K. Nanda being appointed as Chairman.

The Unaudited Financial Results for the 3rd quarter 2011-12 was taken on record by the Board under the chairmanship of Sri N.K. Nanda, CMD I/c of NMDC today.

NMDC signed the contract for By Product Plant (BPP) Package for the upcoming 3 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant at Nagarnar, with the Consortium lead by M/s Shriram EPC Limited (SEPC) on 10th January, 2012. The total cost of the package is Rs.509.00 crores.

The un-audited financial results of the 2nd quarter of 2011-12 approved by the Board of Directors of the Company in its meeting held on 31.10.2011 reveal remarkable improvement in performance of the Company. The Company’s production and sales of iron ore during the 2nd quarter touched 69.92 lakh tonnes and 75.78 lakh tonnes respectively which represent about 52% and 47% improvement in both production and sales over that of the corresponding quarter of previous year.
